EPBC March 2024 Review

How to make a Submission

More info on the submission process

(Click the + sign to open up for more detail)

Go to the Nature Positive laws consultation page. Scroll all the way down the page and under “Have your say” select the “Start survey” button

    • A Privacy notice page will open. When you’re comfortable with this information, select the “Next >” button at the bottom of the page.

    • A Public disclosure page will open. Among other things, this page explains that you can make your submission anonymous if you wish. When you’re comfortable with this information, click “Yes” under “Confirm that you have read and understand this privacy notice” and then select the “Next >” button at the bottom of the page.

    • A Declaration page will open. This is about privacy and intellectual property rights to the material in your submission. When you’re comfortable with this information, click “Yes” under “Confirm that you have read and understand this declaration” and then select the “Next >” button at the bottom of the page. (You knew that was coming – you’re really getting the hang of this!)

    • An About You page will open. Enter your contact details and whether you’re responding on behalf of yourself or an organisation. If you select “Organisation” it will open fields for the name and sector of the organisation. And then select the “Next >” button at the bottom of the page.

Phew! The hard part’s done and the Survey page will open.

    • Simply choose how you feel, from “Very unsupportive” to “Very supportive”. We chose “Supportive” because while there is a lot of good in the Plan, in our opinion it still needs more work – but you may feel differently.

    • Note, “the webinar” refers to two public webinars that were held late last year. Don’t worry, you are not required to watch the webinar if you already know enough to form your opinion about the Plan. But you can watch them if you want to – see below under “Bonus for detail nerds”.

  • For each area that you select, it will open up a box that says “Please provide further detail about your response here, or you can upload a submission on the next page”. So, if you just want to simply copy and paste the thoughts you prepared earlier into the box, you can do so here - or you can leave this box blank and just upload a document later - whichever is easier for you.

4. The next question on this page is “Would you like to be included on a mailing list for future updates on the new Nature Positive laws?” Obviously, this one is up to you.

5. … and select the “Next >” button at the bottom of the page.

  • The page says, “If you are making an anonymous submission, remove personal information from the documents you upload. Have you removed any identifying information from your submission?” … but the webform will only proceed if you select “Yes” … a bit puzzling… so we suggest interpreting this as “If I want to be anonymous I have removed identifying information”.

  • The Submit page will open!! Select the “Submit” button at the bottom of the page.

9. You’re done! Thank you!! You deserve a biscuit with that cup of tea.

If you want to share your submission with us we’d love to hear about it!
